Medan, mediatargetkasus.com — The North Sumatra Provincial Election Commission (KPU Sumut) hosted the third and final public debate for gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial candidates at the Tiara Convention Center in Medan on Wednesday night, November 13, 2024.

This debate marked the conclusion of a series of events, following two earlier debates held on October 30 and November 6, 2024.

The debate featured the two competing pairs of candidates: Bobby-Surya as candidate number 1 and Edy-Hasan as candidate number 2.

Centered on the theme “Synergizing Regional Development Policies to Strengthen the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” the discussion sought to inspire fresh ideas on regional cooperation and unity within North Sumatra and beyond.

In his opening remarks, KPU Sumut Chair Agus Arifin expressed hope that the candidates would use the final debate to present clear visions and proposals aimed at fostering development synergies and unity in North Sumatra.

“The people of North Sumatra are diverse in culture and ethnicity, and it is this diversity that binds us together under the banner of ‘Bhinneka Tunggal Ika’ [Unity in Diversity],” Agus stated.

Agus also emphasized the importance of preserving the spirit of unity that has long characterized the province, especially amid the campaign season and upcoming 2024 elections.

He stressed that whoever is elected will be the people’s choice, urging the electorate to exercise their right to vote responsibly.

“The election of North Sumatra’s governor and vice-governor reflects the sovereignty of the people. Therefore, we encourage all North Sumatra residents to visit their polling stations on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, to cast their votes,” Agus concluded.

With Election Day fast approaching, the KPU Sumut continues to remind the public of the critical role of civic participation in shaping the province’s future leadership and development direction for the next five years.
